Built-in appliances gifted from AO

I was incredibly lucky to be approached by AO to collaborate with them on a new campaign they were doing on built-in appliances. This fitted in perfectly when they realised I was about to kit out our kitchen in our newly built house in north Devon. I met a few of the girls from AO at a great interiors event hosted by the No House Rules ladies, and the deal was done.

I had already laid out the plans for the kitchen, and where everything was going to go, so working with AO was a dream come true. I just gave them all my measurements for what I needed and they did the rest. It was all so easy, and straightforward.

When the fitters arrived to deliver and fit all the appliances, they couldn’t have been nicer; in fact the main guy called me Ma’am all day, which I have to say, I’ve never been called before in my life! I felt very posh! Anyway, nothing was too much trouble for them, and they diligently got on with the job in hand, whilst being very chatty along the way. They worked out problems instantly as they arose, and dealt with all the little quirks, as there always is with these things, and had everything up and running in no time. They fitted the door fronts on all the integrated appliances and made sure that they were 100% straight and level. This service was absolutely without fault, and couldn’t have been better…….what a joy to have things go so smoothly for once.

Once they had packed up all the packaging and taken it away, I then settled down to working out how each appliance worked. This was the fun part. The cookers, both the same, were really easy to work out, very self-intuitive. There are so many different settings, great to have, but I’m sure I will end up using just a few of the essential ones.

I decided to get two (yes two!) dishwashers installed in the house. The house sleeps 10 people and if it is at full capacity, which it will be on many weekends, I decided that life was too short to be washing up after everyone all the time, and this solves this problem. I have two friends that have two dishwashers and they both told me what a huge difference it makes when you are entertaining people as my husband and I love to do. I ABSOLUTELY love the little light that projects onto the floor with either the time, or the time left to run on the dishwashers…….it’s these little details that make the difference. The dishwashers are very well laid out, with a separate cutlery tray at the top. I haven’t used one like this before but it’s genius as there is no cutlery squashed together that can hold onto the residue of food.

We also had two integrated fridges installed, for the same reasons as the dishwashers. We entertain a lot, and love having lots of people over. At Christmas in the past, we’ve always struggled having enough fridge space, so again this was the perfect solution. We have one Neff full-sized fridge and one Neff fridge-freezer; super spacious, efficient and brilliantly thought out designs. As they are integrated, it doesn’t matter that they are a different brand to the other appliances in the kitchen. This is EXACTLY the look I was after…….a very modern, and understated kitchen with clean sharp lines.

Next up is the gorgeous Siemens induction hob, that sits beautifully in the granite work surface. I had never used an induction hob before, but I just love the minimalist look of them and the fact that the heat is instant. The hob is ridiculously easy to use, with the LED display making it all very intuitive. I just have to get my husband not to bash the frying pans around on it when he’s doing a fry up! It’s also super easy to clean as well, which I love. No more lifting up heavy cast iron grates to clean underneath…..yay!
